SAKURAISM -with Fukushima-​

On March 11th 2011, the Great East Japan earthquake occurred and the tragic accident of Fukushima No.1 Nuclear Power Plant happened in Japan. After the disaster, Hasumi visited Fukushima. He wanted to do something for the reconstruction and he wanted to see cherry blossoms. Because there were a lot of beautiful cherry blossoms in Fukushima. When he got to see the old cherry tree with the age of more than 1,000 years, Hasumi was really surprised. So many people from far away came to see the cherry blossoms. The place was only 50 kilometers apart from the destroyed nuclear power plant. People in Fukushima have adored the cherry blossom and might have taken a good care for the tree. In return for the people in Fukushima, the cherry tree might attract people in other regions who want to help Fukushima. It bloomed brilliantly for the local people in Fukushima this year again. Hasumi wants to watch over the cherry blossom until when Fukushima completely recover from the devastating earthquake.. .

 

 

2011年3月11日、東日本大震災と福島第一原子力発電所の事故の悲劇が日本を襲った。震災の直後、私は福島の桜を見たいと思った。美しい桜が多いところであり、ここを旅することでわずかでも復興に貢献したいと思ったからだ。そして、樹齢千年以上と言われる古い桜を訪れたとき私はとても驚いた。メルトダウンした原子力発電所から50kmしか離れていないのに、遠方から多くの人々がその桜を見に来ていたのだ。福島の人々は桜を愛し大切に育ててきた。桜はその恩返しに、復興の力になりたいと思っている人たちを呼んでくれたのだろう。今年も福島では桜が地元の人々に寄り添いながら咲いていた。私もその桜を見守り続けたい。福島が完全に復興するその日まで……。
